Gender Identity & Sexual Orientation When choosing a therapist, many clients' main concern is whether they will be understood and respected. This can be even more important if the client wants to discuss gender identity or sexual orientation issues, especially in small or rural communities. Clients' reason for seeking counseling may also may not be focused on sexual or gender identity or orientation, yet they may feel reluctant to fully disclose personal details for fear of harsh judgment or even discrimination. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer &/or Questioning (LGBTQQ) clients are welcome at Spring Grove. Successful counseling requires a healthy, genuine, and respectful relationship between client and practitioner. At Spring Grove, all clients can feel comfortable in knowing that they can be themselves and speak freely in session, including all aspects of their presenting concerns. Maintaining an affirming attitude with each client is the foundation of our practice. We are proud of our therapists' diverse professional as well as personal backgrounds, and we celebrate that same diversity in our clients.
