 Licensed Professional Counselor

Training Background & Professional Experience

Joshua graduated from the University of Missouri with an M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Rehabilitation Counseling.  Aside from being a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), he is certified as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and is currently working towards certification with Biofeedback Certification Institute of America –
Electroencephalography (BCIA-EEG).  He offers Neurofeedback training, individual and family therapy, play therapy for younger children, independent living skills for older adolescents, and parenting skills training.

Approach to Therapy
Joshua has an eclectic therapeutic orientation and often uses Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Practice, The Nurtured Heart Approach, Motivational Interviewing, Structural Family Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Neurofeedback.  His training and experience has cultivated a sensitivity and knowledge of multicultural and disability issues.  He feels it is important to view each individual from their unique cultural experience with a nonjudgmental stance.  He believes in the biopsychosocial model and understands health and functioning as being systemic in nature.  He enjoys positive psychology and prefers to focus less on pathology and more on solutions, strengths, and assets.

Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback, also called “EEG Biofeedback” and “Neurotherapy,” is a
innocuous treatment that involves helping a person learn how to modify their brainwave patterns to improve a wide range of symptoms and to optimize brain functioning.  Neurofeedback can be an alternative or complimentary service with traditional talk therapy and medication treatment.  For more information visit:
