Approach to Therapy

Jan has an integrative and individualized approach to therapy.  She feels that using a strengths based and humanistic approach as well as interpersonal process is most effective in treating clients from adolescence to adulthood.  Jan also uses mindfulness techniques and cognitive behavior therapy as interventions for treating depression and anxiety .

Current Services Offered
Adolescent, and adult individual counseling, couples counseling,  and family counseling.

Professional Training & Experience
Jan received her Master's Degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia in 2005.

Prior to receiving her graduate degree, Jan worked as a wilderness instructor for 5 years with adolescents in Utah and Georgia.  She continued her training throughout school and eventually became a primary therapist at a wilderness therapy program.  Jan believes strongly in using the wilderness and experiential therapy as an agent for change and empowerment.  Jan continued her professional training at a transitional living program in Missouri working with older adolescents in the foster care and juvenile justice system.

Jan's personal interests include being outdoors with her dogs, reading, exercising, and practicing mindfulness meditation. Jan believes strongly in the power of relationship.
